Britain is notoriously a tea drinking nation, but there are still a lot we are yet to learn about tea. Drinking the right blend of tea at the right time can provide ample health benefits for everyone.

Drinking tea may not be the most obvious choice for an effective way to lose weight but research and studies conducted shows that it does, particular certain types of tea. Most teas are derived from the same plant, the Camellia Sinensis first originating from Asia but are also found in places such as India, China, Indonesia and Korea.

Green and White teas are well known for their thermogenic properties, this means the body temperature raises slightly to burn more calories. In Chinese medicine these teas are frequently used to detoxify, refresh and bring balance to the immune system.

Organic Green tea is prepared from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant, without the help from any artificial fertilizer or pesticide. It has a very abundant supply of powerful antioxidants, containing Flavonoids, Polyphenols, Catechins and the compound EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate). continue reading…

Tea you can have it hot or cold

    Author: mark
You can have it hot or cold, black or green, herbal or lemon; yes what we are talking about is tea. Tea is the most popular beverage worldwide. The discovery of tea was done in 2700bc by a Chinese emperor, also a scientist, Shen Nung. In the Indian and Japanese legend tea was supposedly discovered by a Buddhist missionary monk Daruma. Shen Nung had discovered tea when some leaves from the garden fell into his pot of boiling water resulting in a refreshing drink where as it is believed Daruma on being disappointed of himself for not being able to complete his nine year meditation had cut off his eyelids and thrown it on the ground from which originated the tea plant. It was the monkeys who were first trained to pick tea leaves.
Tea slowly gained popularity among the French and the Dutch, but due to its high cost remained a drink for the wealthy. With the passage of time and the increasing popularity different processes of brewing, preparing and drinking tea was evolved. Marquise de seven was the first to have mentioned the addition of milk to tea giving the drink a new dimension.

Indian cuisine is one of the most popular types of food in the UK. We love Indian food so much so that we even have a National Curry Week, which usually runs at the end of November. There are well over 10,000 Indian restaurants in the UK and if all the Chicken Tikka Masalas sold in a year were stacked up on top of each other, they would be 2,770 times higher than the Millennium Dome.

But why are us Brits so obsessed with this exotic food, is it perhaps the spicyness that is so often lacking in our own food, or is it the rich creamy curries like Chicken Korma that attract our morose taste buds. India is an extremely large country and much of its culinary history has been influenced by other countries and cultures. The Persians introduced a variety of rich ingredients and nuts as did the Chinese. You will also find that Thai and Malaysian food is heavily influenced by Indian cuisine, which has led them to creating their own delicious curries.

Whatever it is our affection for Indian food goes back further than you would think. In fact you can follow it back some 400 years, when the East India Company allegedly brought various ingredients and dishes to our shores in the 1600s. Most of these adventurous seamen were from Bengal, which is a region in the East of India.

“How does one make a healthier family lifestyle easier?”– is an answer I might die searching for! – I do think there are alternative ways, other than using bag lettuces.

As a working parent, I am always excited about purchasing something that can make life easier for anyone the kitchen, especially me; at the end of a long day! Although, I occasionally consume those “salads in bag,” these pretty looking and sometimes fun to hear squish little bags- really have me questioning my higher foodie power.

The “salad in a bag” issue really poses a few questions in my mind… first of all, how healthy can it be – are the phytonutrients still even living? And secondly, what’s my issue… I can’t make a salad in five minutes? Weekly, I stand in front of the cold storage containers that house all these beautiful fresh looking bagged pre-washed lettuces, I often say under my breath… “Is this what it’s coming to?”

Brrr! The mercury is dipping and there is nothing more welcome than a hot drink to warm oneself. Coffee certainly is the top favorite with tea running a close second. There are probably as many ways of preparing coffee as there are kinds of that stimulating cup. So it seems to make sense to invest in a coffee machine. Why not look around for where there could be coffee machines for sale? Hold your horses. Do you want a brand new one or are you willing to settle for a used machine? The difference to your pocket could be significant.

Take stock of how many potential users of the machine are there going to be. Where there are going to be multiple users as in a large office or in a cafeteria or at a mall, outright purchase may not be a sensible decision. Why should you hire a coffee machine? The answer is simple. When one tries out several different kinds of models through coffee machine rental, one has a better notion of the various kinds of features on offer and their relative utilitarian value.

Wine has always been a satisfying and enjoyable complement to a lovely meal at a restaurant. Wine tasting in a restaurant is a very rich and rewarding experience. Once you have made your wine selection, there are a number of steps involved in properly tasting the wine that will make the wine tasting experience even more pleasurable.

    1. Smell the Cork: Detecting the aroma from the cork will tell how well the wine has been taken care of. Once the cork has been removed from the bottle, examine it to make sure it is not dry, cracked, or has mold growing from it. If the cork is dry on both ends, this means that oxygenation took place which affects the taste. If everything looks good, (one end containing wine and the other end dry) smell the end of the cork that contains wine. It should not have any unusual aroma such as a musty or sharp smell.

    Home-made macaroni.
    ——————

To four cupfuls of flour, add one egg well beaten, and enough water to make a dough that can be rolled. Roll thin on a breadboard and cut into strips. Dry in the sun. The best arrangement for this purpose is a wooden frame to which a square of cheese-cloth has been tightly tacked, upon which the macaroni may be laid in such a way as not to touch, and afterwards covered with a cheese-cloth to keep off the dust during the drying.
